METRICS INC. REPORTS QUARTER OF RECORD GROWTH
GREENVILLE, N.C. – Metrics Inc., a contract pharmaceutical development company headquartered in Greenville, reports that it experienced record growth in the first quarter of 2006.
Revenues increased 33 percent as compared to the same period last year. The company is on target to achieve similar growth in revenues for the remainder of 2006.
In addition, Metrics Inc.’s workforce increased 6 percent during the first quarter, growing from 172 employees to 182 employees.
The company also opened and began utilizing an additional 4,200 square feet of analytical laboratory space and transferred maintenance into a new 3,200 square-foot facility, representing a nearly 17 percent expansion over its previous footprint of 44,000 square feet.
“We are extremely pleased with the many accomplishments we’re experiencing at Metrics,” said Phil Hodges, president. “We attribute these advances in contracts, workforce and space to the growing value the pharmaceutical industry is placing upon the services we offer. We are fulfilling a real need, and we aim to continue offering quality services that help the industry get new and improved drugs to the people who need them.”
Metrics Inc., founded in 1994 by Hodges and Dr. John Bray, initially focused on contract analytical development work. Since then, the company’s services and capabilities have grown into a broad range of pharmaceutical development services.
The company offers the latest development and analytical equipment housed within a state-of-the-art complex. Built to exacting specifications in 2000, its Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) facility is home to more than 114 experienced analytical chemists and an elite team of 23 pharmaceutical development scientists and manufacturing technicians.
“Three critical differences separate Metrics from the rest of the contract pharmaceutical industry,” said Jeff Basham, vice president of marketing and sales. “First, our clients work directly with an experienced Metrics pharmaceutical or analytical development scientist – there are no non-scientist employees serving as intermediaries. Second, projects don’t sit idly by in an analytical development queue – our analytical support team expedites projects quickly and efficiently. Finally, our quality assurance team is highly experienced, assuring compliance with all regulatory issues.”
